[ still missing my friend ... more than ever ]

Yanno, Joey, the first time I called Flo ‘n got the answering machine … and heard your voice, I just was really sorta plunged into a lil shock at knowing you were gone, but yet there you were … I was hearing you! Now, I don’t mind at all … coz I get to hear your voice and it just reminds me of how lucky I was to have you in my life and that nothing will ever take that away. Miss you bunches ‘n bunches….

for the holidays…

Joe was all about thinking of other people and I couldn’t help feel that it was fitting to share something from him that might help everyone’s holiday a little easier and a whole lot yummier!   This recipe was one that Joe put on our recipe forum that we had a few years ago and it’s awesome!   Please enjoy [=

Italian Roast Beef per Joe

3-4 lb. lean rump roast
2 tsp. salt, divided
4 garlic cloves
2 tsp. Romano or Parmesan cheese, divided
12 oz. can beef broth
1 tsp. dried oregano

1. Cut 4 slits in top of roast. Fill each slit with 1/2 tsp. salt, 1 garlic clove, and 1/2 tsp. cheese.
2. Place roast in slow cooker.
3. Pour broth over meat & sprinkle with oregano.
4. Cover & cook on low 10-12 hours or high 4-6 hours (low cook best).
5. Remove meat and slice/shred. Serve on buns with meat juices on side.

November 16, 2009

It seems only fitting that it’s pouring rain here in St. Louis when we think of our sorrow and loss, but actually Heaven is raining tears of joy for someone so very special has been called Home.  Joe has left us with many great memories and lots of smiles yet to come as we remember his words, actions and his caring legacy.   Our sincere sympathy to his loving family ….

Nancy …

Saturday in STL ..  another quiet, partly sunny, mid-60′s day here …

Have you ever heard of Nancy?   Once upon a time I hadn’t either, but it’s time you did!  Joe has such knowledge and love for music [as you all know]  and one artist that is one of his favorites [thinks he has many many favorites!] is Nancy Wilson.  Omigosh, what an awesome voice …    Do any of you DJ’s have or can you get some Nancy Wilson tunes?

You can listen to some of her songs on youtube.  The song

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

[released 2006] was from a poem “My Life Has Turned To Blue” by Dr. Maya Angelou.  To quote Nancy, As a singer who chooses to sing only those songs that speak to me, that resonate with my life and feelings, it is pure joy to be able to sing the words of my long time friend, Maya Angelou”

“Son of a Preacher Man” is the title of a Nancy Wilson album (and song) from the 1970’s-featuring her with a full orchestra doing contemporary songs of that era ranging from Roger Miller’s “Husbands and Wives”;  Bobby Russell’s “Little Green Apples” and “I Made You This Way”; Jim Webb’s “By The Time I Get To Phoenix”; and Hank Cochran’s “Make the World Go Away”; [as well as some of Joe's other favorite] ….   unfortunately this album has not been converted to CD.  Some of these songs can be found on her other CD’s, however.

**This enlightening musical education tidbit is brought to you … compliments of Joe [=
